FAQ

• How do I import drawings into my app?

For the iPad version, Apple's email app and Dropbox app allow you to touch an attached TechDraw file, launch TechDraw, and import the drawing. If you have the DropBox app installed on your device and you're logged into your account, you will be able to see TechDraw documents from the document browser view and work on them directly.  For the Android version, most email apps and Dropbox provide the same functionality.  Files may also be transferred between the iPad and Android versions of TechDraw and a consistent 1024 x 1024px canvas drawing area is maintained in versions 3.0 and later.

• Can I import equations I've created in MathTech into TechDraw?

Yes.  For both the iOS and Android versions, TechDraw is a superset of the functionality in MathTech and can import files created in that app.

• When I touch a shape, it doesn't show as selected.

This is caused by the current layer being different than the layer assigned to the shape.  If there are no shapes selected you can determine which shapes are assigned to which layers by selecting each layer in turn - the shapes asigned to each layer chosen will then have their bounding box displayed.

• Why doesn't the app operate in landscape orientation?

Version 3.0 and later supports landscape orientation and is a free upgrade from the original app store where you downloaded the app.

• Do I need to be online to use TechDraw?

The full version of TechDraw can be used offline except for the export of data or images.  TechDraw Free requires online access for all functions.

• Can I use my drawings in other applications?

With the drawing you want share showing on the canvas, select "Share..." from the menu, then choose how you'd like to share an image of your drawing. You can store it in the pictures directory of your device, email it, or use any of the other sharing mechanisms.  You can then use the shared image as part of a presentation or other document.
